I've been living in the downtown Silver Spring area for a little over a year now. Just looking for some good wings with fries and good sesame chicken or general Tso's Shrimp or chicken. This place has the best wings around, fresh oil and a decent tasting mumba sauce. Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken is very good, a bit on the sweet side, but ask them to make it spicy. It balances it out. Wasn't a big fan of the General Tso's Shrimp, but hey, you have to try it. I'll order my wings and fries and other general things from here, from now on... Oh yeah... QUICK DELIVERY. Hasn't ever been longer than 35 minutes tops :-)

I know this is just a take-out/delivery joint, but I really think the General Tso's Chicken and Szechuan Green Beans are way better than average. I keep trying to branch out, but these two dishes are so good that I can't stay away.

Terrible! I offered carry out twice! First time was okay, I ordered shrimp fried rice! I figured you can't go wrong ordering the basic. Second time which was tonight was Terrible! I thought give them one more chance! I ordered General Tao's chicken! The chicken is rubbery, it doesn't seem like it's completely cooled enough. Don't go there!!!! It's a waste of money!

I ordered online, got to the restaurant to pick up 15 minutes later, and they had not even seen the order. First -- and last -- time I order from them.

If you want to enjoy the worst chinese food in the area go to Mayflower on Seminary Rd. Then you can be jipped out of your eggroll with the lunch special also.

Bemused by the hateful reviews. 5 stars to balance out the idjits on here. I have ordered delivery from here at least 30 times over last 4 years. Pleasant delivery. Hot food. The combination platters are very generous. Good Won Ton. Chicken with snow pea pods is yummy. Healthy weight watcher dishes. Tasty chicken wings.

The very first time I ordered. I had no problem at all, everything was great. But this time i placed an order online and decided to call and pay with my card. The guy that answered the phone was so rude! I asked to confirm that the driver would be aware that it was going to be paid for already, and he replied "yeah uh that's why I'm asking for your card number" in a very smart tone. After that he hung up on me! So rude!

I was very offended by everything. I'm typically easygoing but I can only take so much blatant rudeness. Also my food was cold and when I approached the guy about it I received more attitude. I asked for a refund and after received more attitude. They eventually did that reluctantly. Please do not support this business. It has no place in Silver Spring.

the spare ribs with bone are simply superb and better than the boneless. the shrimp (or chicken) with snow peas are very good. the shrimp are usually quite fresh , delicate and excellently cooked, not overcooked. the mongolian beef is quite tasty and very nicely prepared. they offer excellent brown rice, well worth the extra fee. shrimp with lobster sauce is also quite good. The only negative for me was the fried fish. It was a total disaster - vastly over-breaded with a foul-tasting bread mix. leave the fish fry to some one who can do it. I have not asked them to deliver, but there is public parking across the street, in addition to their few private parking spaces. Overall, I will continue to use them but avoid anything fried in batter. Stick to spare ribs, shrimp and beef.

Adequate. Not changing the face of Chinese-American food as we know it, but adequate. We've gotten delivery here several times now; it's on our short list of "best of a mediocre lot" in terms of local delivery Chinese. Online ordering is easy, and very well structured to allow for special requests, etc. Delivery is reasonably prompt by local standards -- 40-45 minutes, usually, though it's been known to go as long as an hour. We've had no delivery problems -- no wrong or missing items, no outrageously long waits, nothing like that. Egg rolls and spring rolls are passable, dumplings are a little doughy but OK. Won-ton soup has decent broth, and lots of won-tons. Chicken noodle soup is basic but good. Sesame chicken is a little too sweet for my taste but not bad, kung pao is quite bland (note that you can specify level of spice -- we found the "medium" to be what we'd call very mild.). Moo Goo Gai Pan -- admittedly usually a mild dish -- was so extremely mild as to have almost no flavor. Fried rice is decent. Crispy beef and chicken are both nicely crisp and flavorful, with a sauce that's a tiny bit sweeter than I prefer, but still tasty. Mongolian beef was a bit fatty and disappointing. Overall, nothing we've ordered has been BAD. But it does all tend to be a bit bland. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous. Online ordering includes online "coupons" for free egg rolls, chicken fried rice, etc at various order price points, which can make it a particularly good value.

I've written about this before and I'll say it again: There's a difference between take-out Chinese food and sit-down Chinese food. This place is GREAT for take-out. There are some places to sit inside but unless you live far away, I would suggest placing your order and getting it to go. I've only had two things on the menu and they are both fantastic. I highly recommend the General Tso's chicken with steamed rice or the boneless pork ribs (found in the apps section). The portions are plenty and the food has a great flavor.

I love this place so much! The food is exceptional for a Chinese restaurant. I always order delivery and it's incredibly fast. I highly recommend the general tsaos and Hunan chicken! Those are definitely my absolute favorites. The food is always fresh and never disappoints me. Orders can be placed online with personal notes, which btw they do listen to! They also have great deals on their website!

I ordered food from this place twice now. The first time I didn't know any better. The second time, I forgot about the shady service that I received the first time. I ordered online and had to call them to check on my delivery after an hour. The woman who answered the phone had the nerve to ask me if I was sure that I ordered from them. Never once did she ask me what I ordered. Then all of a sudden, she tells me the driver is on the way and that he needs me to meet him. All I have to say is don't offer a service if you cannot provide it in a timely fashion. All you are doing is pissing people off when they are hungry! Both times the food was late, cold, and the delivery man yells at you in another language. Why would I order delivery if I don't want you to bring it to my door? He refuses to get out of his car and comes off threatening. I will not order from them again. I cannot even speak on the food because its been cold every time.

Great prices on lunch specials (the usual Chinese favorites & all are less than $6.00) This is definitely not a place where you would want to eat in the restaurant (although they do have a couple of tables) . I usually get the General Tso's Chicken & the egg rolls (see photos) to go. Very good & plenty of it. Yesterday I ordered delivery from here for the first time & it arrived as ordered & amazingly fast.

The best Chinese take-out I've had since I moved to the area 8 years ago. Tons of flavor, friendly, a new favorite. I had a craving and Mayflower satisfied it. I will be going back and recommend this place.

Mayflower is the best Chinese delivery in Silver Spring. The presentation (an irrelevant perk, to be honest) is on point as everything is delivered in resealable and reusable Tupperware. I've ordered from Mayflower a dozen or so times and my order has never been screwed up. I do order from their web site, so I can visually see the freebies that are included when you spend a certain amount. Another perk of Mayflower is the freebies they throw in when you spend a certain amount are pretty nice. Everything we've ever ordered has been cooked well and always heated up nicely for leftovers. I'm sure people will have their complaints, but I mean, it's not 5-star dining you're ordering here -- it's your typical Chinese delivery joint that can match up with the best of them on both price and quality of food.

I don't usually give 5 stars, but we ordered and 20 minutes later had hot food that tastes really quite remarkable for a take out place. Have never been in person and didn't have a coupon. Just found the place through another app and couldn't have been happier with the portions and taste. Crispy Chicken is to die from!

Pretty mediocre food. Also, their delivery service is totally unreliable. A couple of times it took more than an hour to get cold food and the last time it never came at all.

The people here are very nice but unfortunately the food is not good. All the pork dishes I've tried have shredded char siu (sweet red pork) even if the flavor clashes with the preparation. The eggplant dish is oily and sickly sweet.

I go there quite often because it's close to my house. They have a nice variety for the lunch combination special. Their shrimp with garlic sauce is very good. The only reason why I give this place 4 out of 5 stars is because their boneless spareribs are either a hit or miss. They overcook them casuing them to be dark and hard when they're supposed to be pink and soft. I'd recommend it although the actual restaurant is a hole in the wall.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
